Industrial Freight Elevator Project Specification Checklist

Use this project-input checklist before requesting an industrial freight elevator proposal. It helps engineers, contractors and procurement teams describe the required duty and building interfaces. It is not a load chart, an installation design or a statement of approved operating limits.

Define the service first: a goods-only lift and an elevator permitted to carry personnel are not interchangeable procurement descriptions. State the intended users explicitly and require the supplier to confirm permitted use for the offered configuration and destination market.

  1. Intended application and users. Identify the facility, the areas served and whether the duty is goods-only, personnel access or combined transport. Describe who will operate and use the equipment. Do not infer personnel permission from the equipment name.
  2. Required rated load. Provide the maximum intended transported load, including goods, containers, handling equipment and any permitted occupants. Identify concentrated or uneven loads separately; payload alone does not define the loading arrangement.
  3. Travel and landings. Supply the required vertical travel, number of stops, landing elevations and access sequence. Include a drawing of the route and identify any planned future extension as a separate requirement.
  4. Cage and load envelope. Give the largest load dimensions, required clear internal space and access clearances. Distinguish nominal cage dimensions from usable space, door clearance and the actual loading envelope.
  5. Loading and unloading method. State whether loads arrive by hand, trolley, pallet truck, forklift or another method, and whether that handling equipment enters the cage. Provide wheel positions, equipment mass and point-load information where relevant; request configuration review rather than assuming acceptance.
  6. Doors and openings. Identify access sides, clear opening requirements, loading direction and landing-door locations. Explain restrictions at each stop, including protected routes and separation from nearby circulation.
  7. Duty and operating pattern. Describe expected journeys, operating hours, loading time and service-access needs. State any required journey-time or availability objective as a project requirement, not an already verified performance claim.
  8. Building and structural interfaces. Provide available space, supporting structure, foundation or base arrangement, proposed tie locations and surrounding services. Request configuration-specific reactions and interface drawings for review by the responsible structural designer; do not select anchors from a generic model summary.
  9. Site environment. Describe indoor or outdoor exposure, the site temperature range, moisture, dust, corrosion and any potentially hazardous atmosphere. Supply site data and required protection criteria. Environmental or hazardous-area suitability must be confirmed separately for the offered equipment.
  10. Electrical supply and controls. State available voltage, phase, frequency and supply location, together with site control, isolation and communication requirements. Ask for the configuration-specific electrical information before finalizing the supply design.
  11. Installation and maintenance access. Identify delivery restrictions, assembly space, lifting access, erection sequence and interfaces with ongoing operations. Define access for inspection and maintenance, including who coordinates any outage.
  12. Safety and emergency arrangements. Describe the site operating arrangements, user controls and emergency response responsibilities. Require the proposed emergency and rescue arrangements to be reviewed for the actual configuration; routine access equipment must not be assumed to provide emergency-escape duty.
  13. Destination-market evidence. State the installation country and the applicable approval and acceptance process. Request identification of the standards and conformity documents relevant to the exact supplied model and configuration. A generic certificate or a certificate for another model is not configuration evidence.
  14. Handover and acceptance requirements. List the drawings, operating and maintenance instructions, inspection records, commissioning evidence, training and acceptance documents the buyer requires. Identify the responsible parties and any review hold points before placing the order.

What should the proposal confirm?

Ask the supplier to identify the offered model and configuration, permitted users, rated load, usable cage and opening dimensions, travel and stops, selected speed, electrical requirements, structural reactions and installation responsibilities. Request relevant conformity documentation and clarify exclusions, project review items and the final acceptance process. Treat model-level data as evidence for that model—not proof that every published maximum is simultaneously available.

SEKLIFT connection: the industrial product family includes the SM-GTP-102 rack-and-pinion freight/personnel elevator. Use the published model information as a starting point; the final offered configuration, interfaces, operating conditions and destination-market conformity require project review.
